Watching My 3-Week Old Jack Russell Terrier Puppies
Discover Food
Today I want to share what has been the most precious and exciting experience of my life: becoming a proud mom to a litter of Jack Russell puppies!
My journey with these charming Jack Russell puppies reaches its third week, and I must say, it’s an adventure every day!
This week has been filled with exciting moments as they venture into the realm of solid food.
Discovering the World
At three weeks old, my Jack Russell puppies are beginning to experience the world in a whole new way. They’ve left behind their fragile, newborn stage and are now resembling proper little dogs. Their eyes once closed to the world, have now fully opened, and they can see the world around them for the first time. It’s a magical sight to behold as their curious gazes take in the shapes and shadows of our cozy whelping box.
Their ears are also becoming more attuned to the sounds of life. They can now hear not only the comforting sounds of their mother but also the occasional household noises that drift in from outside. Their world is expanding, and they are learning to distinguish one sound from another.
Bonds That Grow Stronger
This week, I’ve noticed the bonds between the puppies growing stronger. They are more aware of each other’s presence and are starting to engage in playful interactions. It’s heartwarming to witness them nuzzling and gently tussling with their littermates. These early bonds are a sign of the strong relationships they will form as they continue to grow.
Discovering the Joys of Solid Food
One of the most exciting developments in three weeks is the introduction of solid food. While they still rely on my milk for the majority of their nourishment, I’ve begun to offer them a soft, puppy-specific gruel. The sight of their tiny faces covered in food is both adorable and comical. It’s the first step in their transition to a diet that will sustain their growth.
Movement and Exploration
My puppies have come a long way since those tentative first steps of week one. Now, at three weeks old, they are mobile, active, and increasingly coordinated. They are no longer confined to crawling; they can walk with more confidence and even playfully pounce on each other. The whelping box is alive with its playful antics.
Toileting Independence
As a mother, I take pride in teaching my puppies important life skills, and toileting is one of them. At three weeks, they begin to show signs of toileting independence. They instinctively move away from their sleeping area to relieve themselves, and I’m here to encourage and guide them in this important learning process.
The Road Ahead
With each passing day, I am filled with a profound sense of pride and love for these remarkable Jack Russell puppies. As their mother, I know that their journey has just begun, and I eagerly anticipate all the milestones and discoveries that lie ahead.
Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to share the heartwarming journey of my Jack Russell puppies. These little adventurers are growing before my eyes, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the privilege of being their mother.
